Target’s team is entering the holiday season ready to deliver joy to our guests. From our existing team members and our On-Demand workforce – about 43,000 flexible store team members who can pick up shifts as their schedules allow – to the seasonal team members we welcome across our stores and supply chain facilities, our team is ready to bring magic to our guests however they choose to shop.
I started at Target to make the holidays special for my son, and I’ve built a career that’s grown right along with me.
Tamara’s Target journey began in 2018 when she joined as a seasonal fulfillment team member to earn a little extra income for her son’s Christmas wish list. Along with competitive wages, seasonal roles at Target also come with financial benefits like a 10% team member discount (plus an extra 20% off wellness items). But what she found went far beyond a holiday job.
“As the season continued, I grew to love the culture Target stands for and the welcoming community for someone so new to retail,” she says.
Her leaders quickly recognized her potential and invited Tamara to stay on with the team after the holidays. From there, she took on three team lead assignments in fulfillment and general merchandise before earning her first executive team leader (ETL) assignment. Today, her role as an ETL of human resources allows her to support her fellow team members on their own development journeys.
“I love how Target has grown with me, and I’m so happy to be part of this team.”
The flexibility of On-Demand has been amazing. It’s helped me balance teaching with a job I truly enjoy.
For Karina, Target’s On-Demand program has been the perfect fit. A five-year team member, she transitioned to On-Demand last year after becoming a substitute teacher. The role allows her to keep contributing at Target while pursuing her career in education.
“Over the summer when I’m not teaching, I can pick up longer shifts, and during the school year I just do weekends here and there. It’s really worked perfectly with my schedule, and I love the extra income,” she shares.
Karina says the best part is the way her store team continues to welcome and support her. “It’s nice knowing I’m part of a workplace that cares about me and my goals. Everyone’s been so encouraging about my teaching career, and I feel like I get to bring the best of both worlds together.”
Target saw my potential from the start and gave me the chance to keep growing.
Willie joined Target as a seasonal team member and quickly made a strong impression with his positivity, reliability and eagerness to learn. After the holiday season, he was offered a full time role and he hasn’t stopped growing since.
Over time, he took on new challenges and responsibilities, and most recently he was promoted to Problem Solver, a role that supports the operation by helping resolve freight issues and keeping the process running smoothly.
Even while balancing another job, Willie has made it a priority to chart a long-term career path with Target, and it’s a journey his leaders are excited to continue supporting.
Staying power
Seasonal and On-Demand roles at Target offer more than flexibility during the holidays — they also come with a starting wage range of $15-$24 per hour, depending on role and location, and access to a wide range of benefits from day one. That includes 24/7 virtual healthcare through CirrusMD, confidential mental health and coaching support through Spring Health (with eight sessions for each service at no cost), early pay access with Daily Pay, a 10% discount at all Target stores and on Target.com, plus an extra 20% off wellness items.
These roles can be the first step toward learning new skills, growing as a leader and building a long-term career. And, as we prepare for another holiday season, we’re proud to support a strong, experienced team that’s trained to step in where they’re needed most, from checkout to Drive Up and same-day delivery, and ready to bring joy to our guests.
